The lateral femoral cutaneous nerve arises from the 2nd and 3rd lumbar nerves. It is formed in the psoas muscle and emerges from its lateral border to cross the iliacus muscle and exit the pelvis. The most common point for possible entrapment is as the nerve passes between the two slips of the inguinal ligament
